No knitting but...

I had hoped to bring you pics of the beautiful desert wild flowers from the Anza-Borrego Desert. Normally this time of year there is an abundance of growth and color where most of the year there is nothing but sand and cacti. The past few years I haven't had the time to get out there and with the amount of rain San Diego has had (only an hour away) I thought it would be a great bloom. Unfortunately the desert didn't get as much as the coast. SO, you are stuck with pictures of sand ...yes, this is ALL compacted sand.

We ate lunch (MREs ("Meal-Ready-to-Eat" given to military troops while they are out in the field) The Man's prefered food of choice - he was a Marine for WAY too long!!! YUCK!) on this little shelf (where he is standing - look really close). Since none of this is rock but compacted sand, it is a little disconserting climbing up and down. You step onto what looks like a rock and it crumbles under your foot.

The Man in his element...
Me pretending to be in my element
while hiding from the sun...

And the most beautiful sunset.
An awesome trip even if there was no knitting involved. (I did bring some but I was too dirty to touch it!)
